Eucalyptus Gunnii Blue Ice is a rapid-growing eucalyptus variety celebrated for its resilience in our climate. The spectacular Eucalyptus Gunnii stands out as a hardy and favoured choice. Its young leaves boast a captivating silvery-blue hue, gradually transforming into elongated, glaucous, sickle-shaped adult foliage. The tree sheds its smooth whitish-green bark each late summer, revealing a greyish-green bark that can sometimes display pink or orange flushes.

While not as commonly found in the UK, this eucalyptus variety surprises with beautiful creamy-white blooms during the summer flowering season. Though eucalyptus trees naturally reach impressive heights, strategic annual pruning in gardens can maintain them as large shrubs, ensuring a steady supply of coveted juvenile foliage appreciated by both gardeners and flower arrangers.

Ideal for patio cultivation in a pot, Eucalyptus Gunnii Blue Ice can be cultivated to form a standard tree, its compact head of silver-blue foliage responding well to regular clipping. The foliage emits a scented natural oil, effectively repelling bugs and gnats. This magnificent evergreen specimen exhibits rapid growth, reaching up to 1 meter (36 inches) in the first year. Once established, it proves hardy even in chilly temperatures, enduring as low as -18°C (0°F). Celebrate its first year of growth, and anticipate many more years of beauty and resilience.
